A Little Kindness (goes a sparkly way)

Crying on the inside because I was born with funny shaped nails.

So right after my last post about Celestia, I decided that it was time to move on to the next color. Up next, in no particular order, is A Little Kindness!

With this one I didn't try to build it up into a solid coat, and I kind of regret it. That's not to say that I wasn't expecting much with this glitter, in fact I was pleasantly surprised by what coverage I got with just one coat! I decided to pair this up with China Glaze "Fast Track" from the Hunger Games collection (that color has become my go-to shade when I have a polish that needs some "underwear"). The results are a super sparkly shimmering explosion of...shimmery sparkles.

A Little Kindness applied surprisingly easy given the huge pieces of glitter. I didn't have to fish out any of it and usually got a few on the nail with one go. I did dab some of the glitter in a few places to even things out, but nothing crazy. Also, the large pieces aren't taco glitter, either. In some light it looked as if it was curling at the edges, but this isn't the case at all!

I kinda regret layering this over a nude-ish shade. The pink shimmer shows up nicely despite the photos, but I think this could really pop when layered over a pink or even a more gold shade. Lesson for next time!

Celestia!

The first polish from the Equestria collection that I tried was Celestia. Originally I painted about five layers of it over "blank" nails, thinking I would just build it up to be opaque. Honestly? It was very pretty! Super shimmery, even in low light, and dare I say...possibly work appropriate? However, painting my nails in my bedroom's crappy lighting at night wasn't the best thing, as I noticed lots of bare spots and streaks. I don't blame this on the polish, I blame it on bad lighting!

So, the next day I started over. 

I realized that Celestia works better as a layering polish for me (though I still think it's pretty worn alone!) and decided to give it a go over OPI's "Into The Night" from the Amazing Spider-Man collection. 

This photo is after about four days of wear. Barely a chip! 

Not the best photo representation, but...it's pretty! My camera couldn't quite capture how shiny and just glow-y it is when layered over Into The Night. I've had this on my nails for about four or five days now, and aside from some normal wear at the tips, both are holding up rather nicely. Usually layered polish comes exploding off my nails at this point.

I have seen the glittering light...

"Oh, hey, seems like I got a package in the mail today..."

What could it be? WHAT'S IN THE BOX?

BAM! GLITTER!

Pure awesome in a bottle. Sparkling amazingness. Captured samples of various Unicorn bodily fluids (okay, I went too far). I can come up with about a million different adjectives to describe Rainbow Honey's Equestria collection, but I'll refrain. I first heard of this brand and polish through one of the many nail blogs I follow, and upon seeing The Worst Possible Thing layered over black, I knew I had to have it. Had being in all capital letters and italicized of course. HAD to have it! (

Normally when I see swatches of amazing "indie" nail polishes, about 87% of the time when I go to the online shop, they are sold out, the price is a bit too steep for my budget that day, or there is some other reason stopping me from buying right there and then. However this time the stars must have been aligned correctly, as I had the means to purchase and it was all in stock! Initially I was going to only purchase The Worst Possible Thing and maybe 20% Cooler, but curiosity got the best of me and I started checking out swatches of the rest of the colors. 

Mare of the Moon reminded me of those glass glitter wands from childhood, what with the little moon sparkles, so I was also sold on that one. Pinkie Promise? I don't have enough pink, so I was sold on that too. Long story short, I was coming up with reasons as to why I had to have ALL of the colors. Upon realizing I could buy a set of the smaller bottles, well I went and bought them!

And for what I'm wearing on my nails right now? Maybelline Color Show "Twilight Rays" (2 coats), Sinful Colors "Nail Junkie" (1 coat), top coat, and a coat of Warpaint Beauty "Mattify" to up the awesome a bit. It's like a galaxy. :D

Holy Purple, Batman...

See those two polishes above? I'm not sure when I even got these, they're both years old (and remarkably still in good shape! Just needed a good shake each!), but both layered over Color Club "Disco Dress" made one of my favorite combinations ever. 

I have a thing for purple and green combinations, and the three of these made this AMAZING purple with an awesome green, sparkly, iridescent sheen to it. I couldn't even capture it on camera correctly.

So, sadly, there won't be any photos of the results just yet (not until I do this again, at least), but if you happen to have any of these colors laying about, TRY IT. 

Colors used; Color Club "Disco Dress", Sally Hansen Nail Prisms "Turquoise Opal", and Liquid Euphoria...color name unknown. It's purple with a great green sparkle to it. 

PAY DAY!

Yay!

The mall that I work in has maybe 39 salons, but one in particular stocks OPI for a price that's beyond low ($2.99!) That was a terrible thing for me to find out, as my bookshelf is just about EXPLODING with OPI polish now. Awesome! But seriously, it really is awesome. I picked up three colors from The Amazing Spiderman collection (no sign of Shatter The Scales though, boo!) and later splurged on some Hologram Effect nail polish.

I had read that the holographic nail polish was difficult to apply, and the display at Ulta had something about buffing your nails before using the polish. Well, I was a little impatient before going home and painted two coats on one nail (right over the polish I had on) just to see how it would look. Application was okay, and as it dried it pretty much exploded with rainbows. I seriously cannot stop looking at it! I had read in several places that using a top coat as a base coat makes application easier, so I'll give that a shot. 

Now, to decide which color I want to try first...

If one thing is evident, it's that I'm not GOOD at nails, if that makes sense. More often than not, I'm just slapping on a few coats of whatever new polish I bought, not really caring if I get some on my fingers or allover my cuticles. Oh yeah...cuticles are a whole other thing. However, recently I started to give a shit, and I'm thinking that posting these horrible things at the end of my fingers will make me give even more of a shit. I'll never have long nails (I've tried!), but that's no excuse not to keep them nice, right?

Anyway.

Sally Beauty is having a sale on nail polish (buy 2, get 1 free), and I decided to stop in to see if there was anything I liked. I almost left empty handed, but a display in a random spot caught my eye. I picked up three shades of Finger Paints, two from the Gumdrops & Lollipops collection (Blue Raspberry Taffy and Grape Gumball) and the third, Cerulean Seascape.

Purple is my favorite color, so the purple shade was the first to go on today. I also had a shade from China Glaze's Prismatic collection that I haven't gotten around to using yet.

Originally I wanted to use both colors on all fingers, but...nah. So here's the end result:

Damn. I tried to clean up as best as I could, but I did miss a few spots evidently. But enough being self-conscious! Grape Gumball is awesome. It went on great and I think I could have gotten away with using one coat. It's shimmery, it's pretty, there's potential of it becoming a favorite of mine. I used two coats of Prism as well, and I'm liking how it looks. The picture doesn't do justice, as a desk lamp doesn't make great lighting. I can't wait to see how these look in the sun!

Oh no... What is this? WHAT AM I DOING?

So after several months of checking out different nail polish blogs on a daily basis, as well as buying an absolute ton of nail polish for even longer, I decided to start up my own blog. Is it necessary? Probably not. Does the world really deserve to be subjected to my sloppy, bland manicures on my weird, misshapen nails? Absolutely not.

Sadly, I have a problem with self control.

So without further ado, here's to my stupid new blog! Hope whoever randomly comes across this enjoys what's here. :)
